How long will it take?
Some Disabled Aids and Adaptations can be
fitted very quickly. The waiting time depends on how important the
Disabled Aid or Adaptation is for the resident. Works will be
considered according to the category assigned by the approved
practitioner.
Disabled Aids & Adaptations are divided
into 3 categories:
Category 1
Generally waiting time less than I month
These are works without which a resident is at
risk, or are needed to enable essential bodily functions.
This category may include hospital discharges.
Category 2
Generally waiting time up to 2 months
These are works, without which, a resident
would find it difficult or impossible to stay in the property in
the medium to long term. This would include conditions that
will deteriorate over time such as heart condition, rheumatoid
arthritis or back conditions). These works do not need to be
done immediately.
Category 3
Waiting time may be at least 6 months
These are works which are necessary to enable
tenants to undertake activities which their disability would
otherwise prevent them from doing. These activities would
improve quality of life, but are not essential to health, safety or
the ability to remain independent at home.
