Ending Your Tenancy

Ending Your Tenancy

The things you will need to do if you want to end your tenancy are:

  • Tell us in writing that you want to move by giving us 4 weeks’ notice (or as per your Agreement)
  • Tell us where you are moving to

Before you move out, we will carry out an inspection of your home. You may need to put right any work that you have carried out. Any repairs that we have to carry out which you should have done will be recharged to you.

When you are ready to move and hand back your keys to us, you will need to make sure:

  • That all your accounts with us such as your rent is all paid up to date
  • All your belongings have been taken out of the property. If anything is left we will recharge you for taking it away
  • Your property and garden have been left in a clean and tidy condition
  • You arrange for the gas and electricity meters to be read. Switch of the gas and electricity at the mains when you leave the property
  • Tell us or leave a note in the property to say which company/ies provide your gas and electricity supply
  • You return all keys to us as agreed with your Housing Officer
  • You tell the local council so that your council tax record can be changed
