Signpost Residents Fund
celebration event
18 April 2011
Signpost
Residents Community Fund donated a whopping £48,000 to charities
and groups across the south and south west last year. To celebrate,
the committee, invited recipients along to attend an afternoon of
tea and cakes.
There were a number of lucky recipients
including Sherborne Town Band, Shaftesbury School and Volunteer
Centre Dorset. The amounts awarded ranged from £400 to £5000.
Those attending the tea party were invited to talk about what they
have done with their grants and what a difference it has made to
their group or charity.
Billy Kelly, Shaftesbury School, said” We
applied to the fund to allow students from Shaftesbury School to
participate in Msaada’s Rwanda Experience. The money provided by
the fund contributed to students visiting Rwanda to learn about the
genocide that took place in 1994. This was a life changing
experience for these students and we are very thankful to the
committee for supporting this very worthy cause. “
Vice Chairman of the Community Fund, John
Radford, said “It has been great to be able to put names to faces
today. It is a pleasure to be able to contribute to such good
causes and to hear about what great things have been done with the
money we have awarded.”
The great news is that there is another £48000
up for grabs in this years fund. If you belong to a group or
organisation or know of club in your local community that is in
need of funding, why not make an application? The maximum award is
£5,000 for any one application. Applications will not be accepted
for individuals, and funding will not be granted for salaries or
core running costs.
