Right to Repair
The intention of Right to Repair is to ensure the Association
identifies special repairs that give rise to a risk to the tenants
health, safety and security and that actions are then followed to
remove the risk.
Where full permanent repairs can be completed within the specified
time period the Association will try to do so. In some instances
however, permanent repairs may not be possible within the timescale.
In these circumstances temporary emergency work will be completed
within the timescale. These temporary repairs will then be followed
up by a permanent resolution of the problem. An example of this
would be an insecure door or window. This would be a qualifying
repair. The qualifying repair would be completed by temporarily
securing the door or window. Subsequent orders (non qualifying)
could then be placed for a more permanent repair.
The definition of a qualifying repair is a repair that does not
cost more than £250 They are also repairs that if not carried
out in a specified period, are likely to jeopardise the health,
safety and security of the tenant.
