One of the Associations core values is that 'we treat all people with equal
fairness, courtesy and respect'. This underpins our commitment to achieving
equal opportunities in:
- The access to Signpost housing, the quality of accommodation offered
to people in need and in the provisions of maintenance and other related
services to tenants. This includes the protection of tenants' rights
in relation to racial and other forms of harassment;
- Recruitment and selection procedures, and ensuring equality of opportunity
for all job applicants and prospective applicants;
- The provision of training and development opportunities on an equitable
basis so that all employees are promoted and treated fairly on the basis
of their relevant merits and abilities;
- The way the Association designs and develops new housing and in the
practices of its contractors and consultants;
- The access provided to individuals for becoming shareholders and Board
Members of the organisations in the Signpost Housing for people targeted
by this policy.
Signpost Housing will seek to ensure that nobody receives less favourable
treatment from the Member Companies on the grounds of their sex, marital
status, race, colour, creed, physical or mental disability, age, sexual
orientation, or economic status.
To fulfil this commitment, Signpost Housing will take action to remove
from all its activities, institutional discrimination, based on race,
sex and disability and will ensure the promotion of equal opportunities
is at the heart of the Association's work.
This policy and the commitment to promoting equal opportunities apply
to all organisations in the Signpost Housing. Signpost Housing will also
promote equal opportunities to organisations it works with.
