Signpost Housing Association was established in 1990 under the
name of North Dorset Housing Association. It was set up to undertake
the development of affordable housing throughout the North Dorset
area. Initially sponsored by North Dorset District Council, the
primary objective of the Housing Association was to purchase the
Council's housing stock, manage it professionally and attentively
to ensure that residents in the region could enjoy excellent standards
of housing management and benefit from additional affordable housing.
The Association bought the council's home in 1994 and a year later
the Association changed its name to Signpost to avoid any confusion
between North Dorset District Council and the Association.
The Association now owns nearly 4,500 homes.Signpost develops approximately
500 homes a year throughout the south and south west of England
by working in partnership with local authorities, housing association's,
local communities, voluntary and statutory agencies.
''Our vision is to work together to make a difference
to people's lives by providing & looking after homes that neet
out customers needs''.
