Sheltered Section Information

The sheltered section provides a support service to its sheltered tenants and helps them to maintain their independence. The section is divided into three teams; each team is lead by a Support Liaison Co-ordinator who has the reasonability of maintaining a service to its tenants and for staff management. Team 1 & 2 looks after the traditional sheltered schemes and Team 3 is responsible for the two extra care schemes.

The section covers a large area of North Dorset and apart from the scheme offices have two main bases, one at Gillingham and one in Blandford, where the support liaison co-ordinators are based. Apart from the traditional sheltered schemes there are two enhanced sheltered schemes that provides a service to the more frail elderly. There is a total of 19 full time staff including the Sheltered Housing Manager Housing Office and a Base Co-ordinator Administrator that works within this section.

The Support Liaison Officers role is to liaise, monitor and support the tenants helping them to maintain their independence while ensuring that their needs are met.

All new staff members have a 6-month probation and have to undertake an induction programme over an eight-week period to ensure that they have a good understanding of the role.

Team 1
Lyn Bradshaw is the Support Liaison Co-ordinator for this team and is based at Rawson Court Gillingham, she has a team of 8-Support Liaison Officers (SLO) working out in the field. Lyn and her colleague Shelagh has joint responsibility for the Base Co-ordinator Administrator for the section who is also based at this scheme.

The staff's workload is spread over seven towns and villages from Gillingham to Bourton, Shaftesbury, Sturminster Newton, Fontmell Magna, Stalbridge and Marnhull.

Team 2
Shelagh Hunt is the Support Liaison Co-ordinator for this team and is based at Station Court in Blandford. This team is made up of 5-members of staff and covers the Blandford Area, which includes the villages of Winterborne Whitechurch, Winterborne Stickland, Winterborne Kingston, Millborne St Andrew, Blandford St Mary, Tarrant Rushton, Stourpaine, Shillingstone, Shroton, Pimperne as well as schemes in Blandford.

Team 3
Linda Curtis is the Support Liaison Co-ordinator for this team and is based at Station Court her time and work is divided between Station and Rawson Court, which are the two enhanced schemes. She is responsible for the two members of staff that provide the support for the tenants on these schemes.
